Eagle Scout Project for Patriot Hills of NY - July 2014
Operation P.A.T.H. is dedicated to bringing our country’s veterans together with their teenage children for a day of stress free fun so they can reconnect. This outing was created in response to a need seen by a Patriot Hills volunteer, Matthew Murray. He wanted to provide military parents returning from deployment an opportunity to spent time with their teenage children. Parents And Teens Hanging is all about giving veterans and teens the opportunity to get to know each other again. It is for spending time together doing an exciting, possibly once in a life time activity, in a place that they will always remember. The Olympic Venues in Lake Placid is that perfect place. Operation P.A.T.H. gives every participant a special day to spend together full of opportunities to talk, laugh and have fun.
Operation P.A.T.H. is free of charge to all participants. It provides transportation, a breakfast snack, lunch and dinner to everyone. It includes an Olympic pass to 4 Olympic venues and the Olympic Museum. The day starts with a bobsled ride and the opportunity to shoot like a Biathlete at the Mt Van Hovenburg facilities. They travel to the Olympic Jumping Complex for a Wet and Wild Show and a chair lift to the top of the 90 meter ski jump tower. After lunch it is off to Whiteface Mountain. A ride on the Cloud Splitter gondola takes participants up to the summit of Little Whiteface where the magnificent views are inspiring. Dinner is in the Village of Lake Placid near the Olympic Museum which displays the village’s long Olympic history.

Operation PATH has already made a difference for the 2012 participants:
“I just wanted to reach out and thank you, sincerely, for an EXTREMELY enjoyable and well-coordinated day with my son and a whole host of other great Americans. I have told and re-told many folks of your incredibly successful efforts and in an email, I just can't say how much I appreciate it.”
“I know that you heard this story from more than one veteran that day, but Operation PATH was the first proprietary day that I have had with my 14 year old son due in part to a very demanding military career that has kept me away more than I'd like.”
“I want to again thank you for an awesome day that you provided. We talked about it on the way home from the bus drop-off and each thought the Bobsled was the highlight however all aspects were exceptional.”
Let’s do this again! You can help. Please donate today.
When donating please specify to Operation PATH. So we can keep this funding separated for the event.
